FERREIRA 7th Online World Conference on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications, 2002 Function Finding and the Creation of Numerical Constants in Gene Expression Programming Function Finding and the Creation of Numerical Constants   In this section, after a brief presentation of the facility for the explicit handling of random numerical constants in GEP, the problem of constant creation is discussed by comparing the performance of two different algorithms. The first manipulates explicitly the numerical constants and the second solves the problem of constant creation in symbolic regression by creating constants from scratch or by inventing new ways of representing them.
